In 2010, just a year after the grueling 2007-2009 global recession, opportunities were scarce. But Jaco was driven by an unwavering desire to help South Africans struggling to make ends meet. This determination led him on a 15,569-kilometer journey to Texas, USA, in search of a solution that would revolutionize battery management for South African telcos.

In Texas, Jaco discovered a groundbreaking model that would transform the way South Africans think about batteries. This pivotal discovery marked the birth of BSI and set the stage for reshaping the battery rejuvenation landscape.

The journey was anything but smooth. The innovative concept faced significant skepticism and criticism from manufacturers and importers. It took grit and relentless effort to earn the trust of corporate South Africa. Cell C was the first to give BSI a chance, soon followed by Vodacom and Neotel (now Liquid Telecom).

Today, BSI serves top corporate and residential clients with both rejuvenated and new batteries. While many companies claim to rejuvenate batteries, BSI stands as the true leader and original innovator in this field.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought rapid changes to the battery industry, prompting BSI to undergo a major transformation. Despite these changes, the company remained committed to its core values of quality, affordability, and meeting the needs of South Africans.

At a crucial point, Jaco realized the importance of having the right team. His prayers were answered when he appointed Chris Smit as Operations Manager. From day one, their partnership thrived due to their shared vision and dedication. Their relentless pursuit of excellence and passion for people set them apart.

This division was not just about providing energy; it was about creating a pathway to a more reliable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly energy system for everyone.

The team decided that a comprehensive automotive model would complement the business and address a critical need in automotive truck and heavy-duty fleet management. This decision led to the addition of new, rejuvenated, and lucrative scrap income models to our range of products. We have truly come full circle as a business and can deliver excellent quality models and products at affordable rates to the market.
